Use Dental Implants to Keep Your Face Looking Youthful

Dental ImplantsDental implants are designed to give you natural feeling replacements to your teeth. Since teeth play such a pivotal role in our lives, it is important for you to have a solution that you can rely on and also gives you peace of mind. We use our teeth for chewing, for language, and to show off a brilliant smile. All of these are important but are often hampered by tooth loss. When you lose a tooth, you are potentially losing the ability to enunciate, to eat the kinds of food you love and are definitely sacrificing your smile. While there are numerous types of replacements and false teeth out there, each comes with a unique set of challenges. Dental implants do away with some of these challenges. For example, you will never need to worry about what kind of adhesive you need to hold your dentures in, and you will never need to worry about accidentally leaving your false teeth on the night stand. Implants are the single best solution to tooth loss that there is available.

Not only are dental implants the best solution available, they do far more for the mouth than just replacing your teeth. Replacing teeth is an important, and primary, function of the dental implants. However, they also serve a secondary function which occurs due to their nature and the material from which they are made. Made from titanium the dental implants can create a biosynthesis with the mouth through a process known as osseointegration. This process causes the body to recognize the implant as part of a natural tooth, and treat it as such. What this does for your jawbone is helps it with both of its primary functions.

The jaw has two primary functions. The body recognizes and supports the first of these which is to support the teeth. When, however, you lose enough teeth the body starts to realize that the jawbone may have outlived its usefulness. When this happens, the body will start to take away calcium and some other vital mineral from the jawbone. The jawbone will slowly start to deteriorate at this point. Unfortunately, this has an adverse effect on the other function that the jawbone performs.

The jawbone helps to maintain the structure of your face and bite. When there is any level of deterioration, there is a potential that the posterior bite or even the entire facial structure to collapse. When this happens, you can develop a condition known as witches chin. Fundamentally witches chin looks like the entire lower portion of your face has shriveled while your lips are being turned inwards. Another condition that occurs when your jawbone starts to deteriorate is called marionette lines. These deep wrinkles, which develop around your mouth, can make you look far older than you actually are. The good news is that because the dental implants become part of your jaw and have a symbiotic relationship with your jawbone, both of these conditions can be mitigated, and you can restore your youthful appearance.
