Teeth Straightening Options for Adults

There is a common misconception that it is too late to get braces when you’re an adult. However, many people don’t realize they have a problem with their teeth until they get older. At this point, a good number of individuals decide not to go through with braces because they believe, mistakenly, that others will notice, and they will be embarrassed.
However, there are options available that allow adults to straighten their teeth without anyone ever really noticing.
Teeth Straightening Options
For adults who are looking to straighten their teeth in the fastest manner possible while keeping their brackets and aligners from being highly noticeable, here are the four best options.
Invisalign
Although it isn’t available to every adult, Invisalign, or any other form of a clear aligner, is a great way to straighten teeth without the fear of metal brackets being extremely noticeable. Also, Invisalign, in many cases, is a less expensive option than braces.
Invisalign is perfect for adults who are looking to straighten their teeth and only have a mild to moderate amount of crooked teeth or malocclusion. For more severe situations, one of the various forms of braces might serve as a better option.
Lingual Braces
Lingual braces are a form of metal braces, except they go on the back of the teeth instead of the front. Lingual braces are a fantastic tooth straightening option for adults who don’t mind wearing traditional braces, but they just don’t want them to be on the front of their teeth where they are noticeable.
Like every form of braces, lingual braces have their drawbacks as well. Although they typically straighten teeth just as well as traditional metal braces, they are much more difficult for an orthodontist to access and subsequently cost more when offered and are offered by fewer orthodontists.
Ceramic Braces
Ceramic braces are in essence the very same thing as traditional metal braces. The difference, however, is that ceramic braces are the very same color as your teeth, which means they are far less noticeable than the standard version of metal braces.
Ceramic braces are a fantastic teeth straightening option for adults. However, it is essential to clean ceramic braces as the color of the brackets thoroughly can begin to stain when exposed to food and drink without being thoroughly cleaned off in a timely manner. With that said, they work just as well and just as quick as traditional metal braces.
Metal Braces
I know, this list is supposed to be an alternative to braces that are highly noticeable. However, traditional metal braces are the most common teeth straightening option for a reason; they work. Metal braces are extremely easy to access for orthodontists and much more comfortable to clean.
Metal braces may not be glamorous, but they are far less noticeable than most people think. Also, the time frame in which you are required to wear the braces, which is typically less than two years, is quite small when compared to the lifetime you will have with a perfect smile.
